Prof.ZHAO Huijun from Griffith University, Australia was invited to give a presentation at the Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP) on May 5th, 2011. The title of his presentation was “Nanostructured Functional Materials for Clean Environment and Energy”. After the seminar, Dr. ZHAO visited ISSP labs, and had extensive discussion and idea exchange with ISSP scientists. Future scientific collaborations between ISSP and Griffith University were proposed and extensively discussed. 
 Dr. ZHAO Huijun is a professor from Griffith School of Environment, Griffith University. He is currently the director of Centre for Clean Environment and Energy, Griffith University. Dr. ZHAO’s current research activities including:  
 Nanostructured functional materials for environmental remediation, energy conversion and storage 
 Environmental pollutant speciation, migration and impact assessment 
 Natural chemical products and toxicant identification and environmental toxicology 
 Water quality information collection and management systems 
 New environmental analytical method/instrument 
 He has published over 120 refereed journal articles and gained over 40 international patents. Some products from his researches have been successfully commercialized.
